I delegate my responsibilities
Apr 08, 2009 in Balance Affirmations
I delegate my responsibilities to other very capable hands.
The more I do, the less of me I can put into each project. That is why I delegate my responsibilities to people that I trust. Getting the work completed well is more important than who completes it.
If I am always pouring myself out, I will run dry. To renew my strength and be a better worker, I need to take breaks. It is okay to stop and rest. Resting does not make me lazy or irresponsible. On the other hand, when I rest, I demonstrate maturity.
It is wise and reasonable to recognize when the load is too heavy. I never put work above personal health. Trying to do everything alone is a sign of selfish immaturity. I cannot possibly believe that I am the only person that can get the job done well.
I trust the people around me and I know they would love to help me once I ask for help. I trust my ability to recognize competent and skilled people with whom I can share my load. As the team player that I am, I welcome the ideas of others. As a result, I allow the people around me to learn and grow.
Others enjoy working with me because I make them feel valued. I support the people working with me and I make myself available for questions and suggestions. Ultimately, my work benefits from the creativity of others and I can get quality work done without exhaustion.
When I delegate, I do not obsess over every detail that may not turn out exactly as I would have done it. Instead, I am eager to witness a fresh approach from someone else’s point of view.
Self-Reflection Questions:
1. Have I been trying to do too much because I am afraid to ask for help?
2. Who can I trust to complete my work?
3. How can I support the people who help me?

Deadlines do not scare me
Apr 06, 2009 in Balance Affirmations
Deadlines do not scare me. I let go of worry and concentrate on getting things done.
I am relaxed when faced with deadlines because I plan ahead and break my task into manageable pieces. I know that procrastination only makes things more difficult for me, so I start on a project as early as I can in order to ease the pressure as the deadline approaches.
I let go of the idea that things will just come together and instead take the time to make solid plans. I decide early if I’m going to need more supplies, more research, or more help. This way I have the time to find just what I need in a relaxed and thoughtful manner.
I organize my steps, dividing the task into pieces that I know I can handle. I am far more productive when I choose to do a little bit every day, than if I save it all for a last minute crunch.
I know when to delegate and have people lined up who can help me if, despite my best efforts, I find myself in a bind near the end of a project. Because I have taken the time to help them when they were the ones in need, I know I will be able to count on them to help me.
I am proactive. By approaching each project with care and thoughtfulness, I am confident that I will be able to reach full completion without undue worry.
Self-Reflection Questions:
1. Am I proactive or reactive when faced with a deadline?
2. Do I give myself time to deal with unexpected issues that might arise?
3. Have I fostered a team mentality by my own willingness to help others so I can get help when I need it?

Time Affirmation
Mar 28, 2009 in Balance Affirmations
Time is my friend.
Time is my friend. I work with it, enjoy it, respect it, and make the best of it.
While I have an abundance of time in my life, I choose to both enjoy and respect this wonderful gift.
I have so much I want to accomplish and, by planning carefully, I can ensure that I have the time to do everything I desire.
Thinking of time as an hourglass is not representative of the way I view time. Instead, I imagine all of the sands of time spread throughout an enormous desert. I can see time extend in every direction. I know that I have the time to accomplish everything I desire.
I place priorities on the goals in my life. The things I most want to accomplish are given my attention first. This allows me to make sure I have the time to do the things that are most dear to me.
Certain tasks in my life may need to be completed in a limited time frame and I accept that. I give myself deadlines and I stick to them. This ensures that I do not waste my valuable time.
When I work with time and respect it, I have the ability to balance my life. Giving myself the time to pursue my personal desires, to fulfill my work responsibilities, and to devote attention to my family are important uses of my time. Learning how to balance my time is important.
I am thankful to have found a friendship with time. By making the most of the time I am given, I am able to make the best life for my loved ones and myself.
Questions of Reflection:
1. Have I prioritized the goals in my life so that I can make time for the things that are most important to me?
2. How can I remove time wasters from my life?
3. Do I respect and value the time I have been given?
